Built so a parent can say yes.

Driftlearn works with children’s handwriting, voices and learning needs. These are product rules, not promises we hope to keep, and each one decides how a feature is built.

Five ideas, about three minutes, and a quick check at the end.

The camera reads the page, never a face.

Desk Cam looks at the page and nothing else. It never runs face, eye, attention or emotion detection, and keeps the final image of each page for the replay, not continuous video.

How does a phone become the camera?

It scans a code that works once.

One step more

The code expires in two minutes and works only for that session. There’s no app to install on the phone.

Your child’s data runs their tutoring, and nothing else.

No ads, no ad trackers, and we never sell it. A recording light stays on screen during sessions, replays are kept 90 days by default, and you can export or delete everything.

Is it used to train AI?

That’s a separate choice at signup.

One step more

Using de-identified data to improve Drift for everyone is a separate choice, and it’s off by default for children under 13.

Drift says it’s an AI, and never pretends to be a friend.

Drift says it is an AI in the first session and whenever a student asks. It never claims to be a person or a friend.

No. I’m Drift, an AI tutor. Want to try the next step together?

What won’t Drift talk about?

Anything romantic or sexual, and medical or legal advice.

One step more

Moderation checks what goes in and what comes out. Drift stays on schoolwork, with room for a little friendly chat before it heads back to the problem.

If something serious comes up, the math stops.

If a student mentions self-harm, abuse or a crisis, Drift pauses tutoring, responds with care and shows crisis resources, including 988 in the United States. A written guardian-notification policy, reviewed by a clinical advisor, decides what happens next.

Only what you share leaves your family.

A parent creates every account, with verifiable consent for children under 13, and approves every device. Teachers and specialists see only what you share, and you can stop sharing at once.

Nothing leaves your family. Maya’s notes and replays stay with you and her.

Which laws do you build for?

COPPA, FERPA and state student-privacy laws.

One step more

Including California’s SOPIPA and its rules for chatbots used by minors: Drift already says it is an AI and reminds students to take breaks. We plan to complete a SOC 2 Type II security audit within 18 months of launch.

What does the Desk Cam read?

Pick one. A wrong pick gets a hint, never the answer.

How this page worked: a pointer to look at, words crossed out so they stick, a real question, saying what happens next, and a switch to try yourself. Every session closes with a check like this one.

Start with tonight’s homework.

Driftlearn is opening to families in small groups. Join the waitlist and we’ll email you when there’s a place. A parent or educator signs up, never the student.

Questions about safety go to privacy@driftlearn.com. We answer every message from a parent.
